Seriously, How The Hell Do I Wax Hair Off?

If the closest to body waxing you ever had is watching someone else doing it on you, then there is serious pain involved until you can make it. Or, you just go ahead and read our waxing guide for both men and women!  :)

Ok, so you made your own natural wax to remove hair from your body or face, but you have no clue how to do it!

Watching a professional waxing hair off your body is a lot different than actually doing it yourself. If you don’t want a red skin, bruises, extreme pain or cutting your hair instead of pulling them out from their roots, then start reading asap:

Preparations

Make sure your hair is long enough for waxing.
For perfect hair removal make sure that the length of the hair is at least between ⅛ -¼ inch (3-6mm) long!

Exfoliate the day before and clean the area with soap and hot water right before waxing.
This will help to open your skin pores and thus, hair removal will be a lot easier.

Hygiene when waxing is very important if you don’t want a skin infection.
Make sure your hands, towels, strips and everything you are using is very clean. When hair is pulled out from the roots, the skin is vulnerable to germs and bacteria.

If your skin is very oily or sweaty, apply a very thin coat of baby powder on the area and it will absorb any moisture or oils immediately.

Have also in mind that if the wax is not sticky that means you probably used too much baby powder. So, first remove it with a clean towel after waxing again.

Wax On - Wax Off

First test the temperature of the wax and make sure it is not very hot because it can cause serious burns to your skin!

Apply a thin coat of wax on the area.
Remember to always apply wax in the direction of the hair no matter which area you are waxing.

Try to apply wax evenly to each area. For bigger areas, if it starts getting difficult to apply, then maybe your wax is not hot anymore and you should warm it once more.

Cover the area with a strip or a cloth strip you can make at home, again in the direction of hair growth and press your hand over it until it is attached very well.

Leave a small bit of strip not attached to hair so that you can hold on when pulling.

Since you should always pull the strip opposite from the direction your hair grows then it is obvious which side should the clean bit of the strip be.

Hold the clean bit of the strip with your hand and stretch your skin with the other, right after the end of the strip.

Now, take a deep breath and pull the strip all the way as quickly as you can, always in the opposite direction of your hair growth.

Instantly press your hand on the waxed area and this will take away any pain a lot quicker. If there is wax with hair left on your skin, just put on the strip again and pull.
Do the same to wax hair off the whole area but be careful with waxing the same area twice. If this is your first time and there is still hair not removed, then you should use tweezers or wait 1-2 days before waxing the area again in order to let your skin calm.

Especially if the skin in this area is too sensitive such as armpits, bikini or your upper lip. After 1-2 times, when you master waxing, then you can do it as many times as you like with no irritation at all!
As for the pain, this goes for all: any pain subsides immediately after the wax is pulled. :) And although the amount of pain depends on the area you are waxing, the length of the hair (the longest the most painful), how sensitive your skin is and many more factors that vary from person to person.

The very good thing about waxing is that soon your hair will become a lot thinner and you will feel nothing at all!

Afterwards

Remove all remaining wax with cool water (if it is sugar based), baby oil or a skin wax remover.
Apply a soothing and moisturizing after wax gel or lotion, as many times as you want. Aloe based products seem to be extremely soothing especially for men or coarser hair.
Don’t expose your skin to the sun for at least 24 hours.
Don’t swim for at least 8 hours (especially in a pool).
Don’t exfoliate for at least 48 hours.

That’s it boys and girls! You’re done with waxing for the next three to four weeks!

Now, who’s the fairest?
